Library Program
Libraries are a favorite of Baba due to their close connections to the communities they inhabit.
“People who can’t usually afford to attend some of the larger stage performances can often come to a library and experience a little of what I do for the bigger productions,” says Baba, “it’s a joy to travel to an area and build a relationship with the community through its library system. Libraries are a special place, a refuge of sorts for the mind.”
During Baba’s library programs he teaches participants West African songs in traditional form/language and shares stories while playing his harp. A call/response relationship is built upon with chants and singing and audience members share in the feeling of the tale.
