Serenading the Spirit
“Serenading the Spirit” is an intimate journey through the emotional nuances and political subtleties inherent in our relationships with family, society, & self. Spirit examines the underlying tone of our most intimate interactions and not the literal, often misinterpreted, understandings.
“Serenading the Spirit” intertwines movement, public discourse, storytelling and music on its journey exploring the humor, joy and pain of the human experience.
Storyteller & Kora Musician Asha’s Baba leads a cast of dancers, musicians and other artists on a circuitous, but rhythmic, path as your poetic narrator, segueing harpist and facilitating conversationalist. Spirit is a blended town hall meeting and concert served for the discerning palate of a mature soul. As a show, Spirit magically brings together audiences sharing convergent thoughts, feelings and actions beneath a warm quilt of divine diversion. “Serenading the Spirit” is anything but typical entertainment, it is an experience to be remembered and shared.
“Serenading the Spirit” is produced for intimate settings of audiences appreciative of the subtleties of harp music, verse and the combined poetic movements of Modern, African and Interpretive dance. Performance of Serenading the Spirit may be tailored to almost any size audience but specializes in catering to smaller more intimate venues.
