COMMUNITY HUBS OR CENTERS
Libraries are a favorite venue of Baba due to their close connections to the communities they serve.
“Those who are usually unable to afford some of the larger stage performances can often come to a library and experience a little of what I do for the bigger productions,” says Baba, “it’s a joy to travel to an area and build a relationship with the community through its libraries. Libraries are a special place, a refuge of sorts. That’s how I remember them growing up.” If you are interested in bringing Baba to your library then Click Here and fill out our Online Booking Form.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT A LIBRARY PERFORMANCE
During Baba’s library programs he teaches participants West African songs in traditional form/language and shares stories while playing his harp. A call/response relationship is built upon with chants and singing and audience members share in the feeling of the tale.
