Baba has delivered keynote addresses to an array of audiences, covering such topics as language acquisition, human development, cultural awareness, author's craft, the state of education, global citizenship, etc. Keynote addresses are crafted to meet the needs of attendees, as most conferences incorporate specific themes.
What sets Baba's keynote addresses apart from the typical, straight narrative type of presentations is his use of indigenous oral historian practices, including musical storytelling, audience engagement, and bi-directional participation of attendees, regardless of audience size.

About Djeliba Baba the Storyteller:
Baba the Storyteller has been a global touring artist, educator, and professional presenter for more than 30 years and is one of the few recognized U.S.-born practitioners of the ancient West African Oral Historian’s craft known as Jaliyaa, or Griot Work. He has received numerous awards over the years for his work as a folklorist, musician, storyteller, community activist and volunteer.
Currently, Baba tours internationally as a cultural educator, sharing his unique style of griot work with both public and private schools such as Waldorf, Montessori, Reggio, IB and educational institutions.
From Baba the Storyteller:
More than 30 years ago, while working with collectives of voluntary service organizations in Southern California, I began to employ storytelling as a means of healing psycho/social trauma in many of the youth I was working with. Our collectives were utilizing indigenous practices from both The Americas and The Continent of Africa known as Rites-of-Passage models. During this same period, I was immersed in spiritual/metaphysical studies through the Aquarian Spiritual Center, headed by our elder Dr. Alfred Ligon. Aside from the regular classroom instruction, I was also, and still am, member of a Men’s Group affiliated with The Aquarian Spiritual Center known as Sa-M-Ptah. It was during these years of immersive instruction that I was introduced to many of the ancient mystery systems and their extensions, Blavatsky’s Theosophy, Steiner’s Anthroposophy, etc. Following pilgrimages to study with indigenous oral historians, or griots, in West Africa, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea and Mali, my purpose for continuing to share stories as a communal contemplative practice and means of cultivating the human spirit has expanded into Waldorf and many other types of communities.

Baba the Storyteller has been a global touring artist, educator, and professional speaker for more than 30 years and is one of the few recognized U.S.-born practitioners of the ancient West African Oral Historian's craft known as Jaliyaa. He has received numerous awards over the years for his work as a folklorist, musician, storyteller, and community leader.
Baba has presented in thousands of schools and other institutions all over the world. He is also a recipient of a California State Assembly Certificate of Recognition for his creative uses of storytelling and his commitment to the community in working with young people. The City of Long Beach, California, recognized him as their municipality’s Artist of the Year, an award presented to him by the Mayor. Most recently, the city honored him as their "Favorite One Man Show" of 2021. He has also earned additional commendations from both the U.S. Senate and Congress.
Currently, Baba tours internationally as a cultural educator, sharing his unique style of Griot Work with schools, NGOs, and public and private institutions.
